01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Hanamijaya Otowa suits a day that begins with a drink beneath the cherry blossoms. Some visitors have enjoyed food and drinks here while taking in the blooms in Maruyama Park, making it an option for a lively hanami outing with friends.
Grilled beef tendon has been recommended by one diner, and the menu includes plenty to pair with drinks, such as pork belly, salted beef tongue, kushi-katsu (deep-fried skewers) and grilled squid legs. For a more substantial meal, there are also options such as curry rice, onigiri and fried offal. One visitor ordered an onigiri set and miso skewers, noting that the rice balls came with pickles. They also remarked on the toasty flavour of the onigiri and the skewers’ crisp exterior and tender centre.
Rather than having a full meal, you could enjoy beer, wine or other drinks with skewers and small plates. One visitor who went during cherry-blossom season reported a seating charge of around 500 yen per person, so allow for an additional cost on top of food and drinks during hanami season.
